Missouri Farm Bureau

Missouri Farm Bureau advocates for farmers, the rural way of life, and all Missourians.

one voice

One of my favorite quotes is from Brene Brown: “Clear is kind. Unclear is unkind.

To be clear, though, being clear isn’t easy, especially in a multi-faceted organization serving and adding value to many different stakeholder groups. It’s easy for one arm of the company to take on a brand-life and voice of its own, separate from the core company.

I’ll let you in on a secret: reworking your website is one of the best ways to get different departments and team members aligning on messaging and speaking as one stronger voice.

During my time at Missouri Farm Bureau, I worked with the internal communication teams to develop campaigns to promote the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) while also educating the general public on the importance of trade to Missouri.

flood control advocacy

In 2019, The Missouri River wreaked havoc across northwest Missouri, destroying levees and dumping sand and debris across some of the richest farmland in the world. Over 1.4 million acres of land went unplanted that year, and 470 Missouri roads were closed across the state, all due to the catastrophic flooding and excessive rain.

Missouri Farm Bureau initiated the #MOFloodReady campaign, bringing together state and federal officials and agencies, to support farmers across the state and to look ahead to what needed to be done to improve the management of the Missouri River. My communication efforts included media releases, video storytelling, social media campaigns, and distribution of resources from in-person Q/A meetings.
